How it started
Roland Media was born when founder, Kelly Roland, realized that life is far too short to do work that isn't personally purposeful. After burning out in the corporate world after almost two decades, she decided to follow her passions: writing, speaking, and coaching others to find and project their own Voice to the world, be it on paper or by presenting.
Our Values
We love the the opportunity to work with a huge range of clients who are changing the world in so many different ways. We live and breathe by certain core values that highlight our passion and the essence of why we do what we do - namely, to bring authors' voices like yours to the world.
Freedom of Speech and Expression
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
— United States Constitution Bill of Rights, First Amendment

This might seem like an obvious value to hold, but it's one we cherish.
We're committed to searching for and working with people from every walk of life who are looking to express themselves freely through their writing and speaking.
However:
We reserve the right to refuse to work with any client should we feel their work does not align to our values, particularly those who appear to be engaged in defamation, libel, slander, or obscene speech.
Respect
“I don't care if you're black, white, straight, bisexual, gay, lesbian, short, tall, fat, skinny, rich or poor. If you're nice to me, I'll be nice to you. Simple as that.”
— Robert Michaels MD

We recognize that asking for coaching and editing services can, for many, be akin to running through the streets naked and exposed. We're committed to respecting every clients' efforts, vulnerability, and willingness to put their trust in us. We expect the same respect from our clients.
Fun!
"Fun is one of the most important - and underrated - ingredients in any successful venture. If you're not having fun, then it's probably time to call it quits and try something else."
— Richard Branson, business magnate

If we're not having fun, what's the point?! Yes, sometimes it can be rough. Yes, sometimes feedback is hard. We're committed to showing up with a smile on our faces and reminding you that, just because something might be challenging, doesn't mean it isn't also FUN!
Photo/Artist Credits
We're so appreciative of the photographers and artists who provide free media for us to use on our Wix site. In certain instances we've turned photos into the black and white pen and ink drawings you see; the photographers of the images we've used are recognized below. If an image is not credited, it was generated by Canva or another AI tool. There are two pen and ink drawings (Author University page - "Follow" signpost and Pricing page - "Money on Tree") that we would credit, but for the absolutely freaking life of us we can't read their signatures. Their names are on the drawings.
